WHAT CAN WE HELP YOU WITH TODAY?
Preschool FAQs
To enroll, children must be 18 months – 5 years of age. We ask for physician signed immunization records / notarized affidavit, a health statement from your child’s physician, if your child is 4 years-old or older we need their vision and hearing evaluation, and if your child has a diagnosed allergy, we need the allergy plan signed by their physician. All those documents will be turned in with our admission form you can download from our website. Our tuition is divided evenly across the school year, there is a yearly registration fee, and a supply fee due twice a year.
We believe in open and regular communication with parents. We provide updates to all parents through the remind app, for ages 2 and under there will be a daily note sent home about your child’s day. Additionally, we schedule parent-teacher conferences with our Pre-K and Bridge class twice a school year to discuss your child’s progress. Our doors are always open for any questions or concerns you may have.
Our daily schedule includes a balanced mix of free play, circle time, small group activities, outdoor play, art, and music. Children engage in activities designed to enhance cognitive, emotional, and social development. A typical day starts with center time, a small group activity, snack time, a morning circle, outdoor play, lunch, and rest time. Each age group has a schedule/routine for their day.
In addition to their high school or college education, the department of childcare licensing requires each staff member to receive 24 hours of continuing education each year. Our staff meets this requirement by attending workshops or conferences regarding different topics in early childhood. Also, each staff member is required to have CPR/First Aid training and a complete background check.
Here at GOOD CITY PRESCHOOL, we have an open door policy. Parents may visit their children in our facilities any time they wish. We do ask parents who plan to visit their children frequently to follow the classroom routine, to avoid disturbing classroom schedules and activities. We appreciate parents’ valuable input on the care of their children and encourage parent participation. Parents can visit as much or as little as their schedules (and children) will allow. We will have a check in process and a staff member will escort you to their class.
Teachers work toward promoting positive self-esteem, self-discipline, and acceptable behavior. Children are redirected to other activities, encouraged to use words, and given choices. If very difficult behavior occurs where the child does not respond to the normal ways of gaining cooperation, a brief supervised separation from the group may be used either in the classroom or in the Director’s office.
Working at a child development center we are very aware that all children are different and not all of them take naps. We do encourage children to lie down and rest their body and after doing it for an extended period it becomes a routine that they look forward to. We believe that with all the learning and fun children need a down time to unwind and rejuvenate. If they do not nap, they will be given a quiet activity to do after they rest their body.
During our school week we offer chapel. Chapel is a time where we teach the children about the Bible and spend time singing worship songs. We also alternate from gym and music class during the week. At gym class the kids will be having opportunities for challenging/fun ways to use gross motor skills in organized games. During music they will be introduced to different music instruments and different ways to be able to make music.
We believe in nurturing each child’s development through a combination of creative play, structured lessons, and social interaction. Every child is unique, and we tailor our approach to support their individual needs and interests. At the Pre-K and Bridge level, students' lessons are built around Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines as determined by the Texas Education Agency.
Yes, we provide a morning snack and parents provide lunch. We also accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies with prior notice, this would be discussed at admission.
For the most part our preschool follows Conroe ISD school calendar with breaks for major holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and summer break. On minimum days for Conroe ISD our school is closed.
At GOOD CITY PRESCHOOL, we take health and safety seriously. Our doors are unlocked from 8:55-9:15AM for morning drop off and then again from 1:50-2:05PM for afternoon pick up. We conduct safety drill throughout the school year that include fire, severe weather, and lockdown. We also take the health of other students and staff seriously, so if your child is sick please follow our “Illness” policy from our Parent Handbook.
We understand that potty training is a personal journey, and we work with parents to support children at their own pace. If a child is in the process of potty training, we encourage communication with parents to ensure consistency between home and school. We provide reminders and help children feel confident and independent during this phase.
While the student-to-teacher ratio may vary by class depending on age, we take pride in maintaining a low teacher-to-student ratio. Ensuring each child receives plenty of individual attention and support. Low ratios allows for meaningful interactions and a better learning experience for all students.
GOOD CITY PRESCHOOL wants to help children grow and develop intellectually, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Having smaller size classrooms helps us give the child that one on one time they sometimes need. Our smaller size classrooms help us get to know the children and families in more of a personal level, teachers and parents genuinely become a team! We love to let the children learn through play but also offer excellent curriculum. We truly believe there’s a balance to our profession, remembering that preschool is a part of a child’s life to prepare them for their long educational journey. We love to offer a fun yet educational place for the children to look forward to exploring.
